Interrail

The Interrail pass works in 33 countries and gives you access to 40 000 different destinations.

What is Interrail?

Interrail is one of the most flexible ways to discover Europe. With an Interrail Pass, you can travel by train through 33 European countries and decide for yourself what your journey looks like. Explore iconic major cities, charming small towns, coastal cities, and scenic landscapes — all with one and the same pass.

One pass – multiple destinations

The Interrail Pass works as your travel ticket on most trains included in the Interrail network. You therefore don't need to buy new train tickets for each journey, but can use the same pass when travelling between your chosen destinations. On some trains, a seat reservation is required, which is booked separately.

The freedom to travel your way

Travelling with Interrail is about more than getting from one place to another. It's about the freedom to stay a little longer when you find a city you love, discover new places along the way, and enjoy the journey just as much as the destination.

Whether you dream of a rail adventure through multiple countries, a weekend in Europe's major cities, or a trip filled with nature, culture, and new encounters — there is an Interrail Pass that suits your journey.

Interrail Pass

For those who want to discover more of Europe

With a Global Pass you can travel between and within 33 European countries included in the Interrail network. The pass is ideal if you want to combine multiple destinations on the same trip, cross borders, and have the freedom to change your plans along the way. Whether you dream of a classic rail adventure or want to explore several countries in one journey, the Global Pass offers maximum flexibility.

For those who want to explore one country in depth

With a One Country Pass you travel freely within a single country of your choice. It is a perfect option if you want to immerse yourself in one destination, explore different regions, and experience more than just the major cities. The One Country Pass is valid only within the chosen country and cannot be used for cross-border travel.

Two variants of the Global Pass

Continuous Pass gives you unlimited travel every day throughout the chosen validity period. Perfect if you want to travel frequently and have maximum flexibility. Flexi Pass gives you a set number of travel days that you use whenever you like within the chosen validity period. Perfect if you want to stay longer at each destination and travel at your own pace.

About seat reservations

The Interrail Pass serves as your travel ticket on most trains included in the network. On certain trains, especially high-speed trains, night trains, and some international routes, a seat reservation is required in addition to the pass. This is booked separately and incurs an extra cost, but as an Interrail traveller you often get access to discounted reservation prices.

More than just train travel

An Interrail Pass can also give access to benefits with selected ferries, buses, local transport, museums, and attractions across Europe. This means the pass can offer added value even when you're not on a train.

Good to know!

  • To use your Interrail Pass you need to download the Rail Planner app and have a device that supports the required app version.
  • When you activate your Interrail Pass and choose a start date, the pass is valid from that selected date.
  • An Interrail Pass can be cancelled as long as the pass has not been activated, has not been used, and the start date has not passed.
  • Child passes must be booked at the same time as the adult Interrail Pass and cannot be added afterwards.
  • To travel with Interrail you need to be able to show a valid passport or national ID card.

How do travel days work?

A travel day is a calendar day on which you use your Interrail Pass to travel. During a travel day you can travel on as many trains as you like, from 00:00 to 23:59.

If you have, for example, a pass with 7 travel days, you choose which 7 days you want to travel within the validity period of the pass.

Example of a travel day:

You travel from Paris to Amsterdam and change trains several times during the day. Regardless of how many trains you use, it counts as one travel day, since all journeys take place on the same calendar day.
If you travel on a night train, normally only the departure day counts as a travel day, provided you do not change trains after midnight.

How do I start planning my Interrail trip?

Planning an Interrail trip doesn't have to be complicated. Start by thinking about where you want to go, how long you want to be away, and which destinations you want to experience.

Once you have a rough travel plan it becomes easier to choose the right Interrail Pass. If you're travelling through several countries a Global Pass is the way to go, while a One Country Pass is a great choice if you want to explore a single country.

If you choose a Flexi Pass you need to think about how many days you will actually be travelling by train. If you instead choose a Continuous Pass you can travel unlimited every day throughout the chosen validity period.

You don't need to plan every detail in advance. One of the great advantages of Interrail is the freedom to change your travel plans along the way and discover new destinations whenever the mood strikes.
